Para nós Tugas, até começou bem: no primeiro minuto ensaio do Kiko depois de uma pressão minha em que a bola ressaltou para ele. Depois disso, umas boas arrancadas do Kiko ao longo do jogo. De mim, pouco se viu (não estava nem de perto nos meus dias ahah), uma saída para trás outra para a frente, mas nunca nada de especial, também não tive sorte com as lesões. Saí ao intervalo, Kiko jogou o jogo todo, primeira parte a 12, segunda a 13.

Ganhámos 36-5 com ponto bónus. Cumprimos, nada mais.

St Bede’s Start Press Cup with a win on the Rugby Channel

St Bede’s have opened their defense of the Press Cup with a 34-5 victory over St Thomas College of Canterbury. St Bede’s made a spectacular start scoring in the very first minute when 2nd five Franciso Veira-de-Almeida charged down a midfield kick and sprinted 40 meters to score. St Bede’s who have won their last 38 matches at home enjoyed superior field position throughout the entire match but a combination of poor handling and desperate defence from a sprinted St Thomas team restricted St Bede’s to just a solitary try and two penalty goals by Hagen Schutle at halftime. In fact the best moment of the first half belonged to St Thomas. Shortly after Richard Mo’ale was sin binned for St Thomas, the visitors launched a counter attack deep inside their own half which resulted in the exchange of the ball between several pairs of hands and the 134kg prop Horan Vaifale barging over. Down 13-5 at halftime and having gained 12 ruck and maul turnovers St Thomas would have been hopeful of their chances of scoring an upset victory. But a careless start to the second half put an end to those thoughts! Hagen Schutle took a quick tap from a penalty and some lazy St Thomas defence resulted in a soft try. Shortly after St Thomas captain Matthew Elia was sin-binned and from that point on the result was settled. St Bede’s added two more tries to retain the Catholic Schools Trophy for a third straight year.
