The first round of the competition will consist of a round-robin of 7 games (for each section), commencing on Saturday 30th April, and concluding on Saturday 11th June. The top four placed teams on competition points, from each section will go through to the Top 8 (Section 1). The bottom four placed teams from each section will go through to the Bottom 8 (Section 2).
In the second round, each team will play the other four teams they are yet to play. Results of games played between teams from the same section in the first round will carry through to the second round, i.e. their fixtures will not be repeated. Results will include competition standing points and points for and against. The second round will commence Saturday 18th June, and conclude Saturday 9th July.There will be no play on the Saturday 16th, 23rd, and 30th July due to the Regional Secondary School camps.
At the conclusion of the second round, the competition will split into four sections of semi finals, on Saturday 6th August, determined by the second round competition standings tables, as at 9th July 2011.

All of the teams most favoured to press for the top half of the table in the second round won today. Christ's College prevailed over Roncalli 36-27, CBHS beat SBHS 36-0, StAC demolished Nayland 113-5, St. Bede's beat Waimea College 54-6 in Nelson, Nelson College repelled Rangiora HS 34-18, Marlborough BC beat St. Thomas' 26-24 in a close game, Timaru BHS beat Lincoln 41-14 and Burnside HS came out ahead over Ashburton College 12-8.
